Two Hollywood Stars To Shoot Movie In Iowa

NEWTON, Iowa -- Officials with the Iowa Speedway in Newton said Thursday that a movie crew and two big-name Hollywood stars are expected to shoot part of a movie at the racetrack.

Actors Zac Efron and Dennis Quaid are expected to be at Iowa Speedway on July 16 to tape scenes for a new, as-yet untitled racing movie.

Fans are invited to be part of the movie magic.

Tickets for the Prairie Meadows 200 ARCA Series Stock Car and Coca-Cola 200 presented by Hy-Vee NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races are on sale for $25 at www.iowaspeedway.com/ZacandDennis.

Fans purchasing tickets online will be entered into a drawing, and 100 lucky winners will have the chance to participate in the pre-race festivities and could appear in the crowd scenes in the movie, speedway officials said.

The film is an Iowa-based movie starring Efron as a rural teen aspiring to become a professional race car driver. Quaid plays Efron’s father in the film.

Producers will shoot Efron walking across the pre-race stage, Quaid cheering from the stands and stock car racing footage during the Prairie Meadows 200 scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m.

“There are a lot of racetracks in America and we are very excited that Mr. Bahrani chose Iowa Speedway as the set for his movie,” said Iowa Speedway President Jerry Jauron. “I hope fans will take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see A-list celebrities and be part of a movie. Let’s show the film crew what Midwestern hospitality is all about!”

The Iowa Speedway is located 30 miles east of Des Moines at I-80 Exit 168 in Newton.

Tickets are available at 1-866-RUSTY-GO or www.iowaspeedway.com.
